SNAP 2012 Restoration Team
The Southern Nevada Restoration Team's Accomplishments report showcases the diverse work involved in restoring public lands, and features some dramatic before and after photos. The purpose of restoration is to return normal ecological function and stability to areas disturbed by events such as wildfires, weeds and other invasive species, or improper off-highway vehicle use. Restoration work ranges from placing barriers that limits vehicle access to sensitive areas, to prevention and control of weeds in burned or disturbed sites, to soil decompaction and recontouring for erosion control, to reseeding and replanting native vegetation, and more. These accomplishments are the result of the combined efforts of agency staff, contractors, non-profit organizations, and many volunteers.
