REI Awards Grant to Outside Las Vegas Foundation 11/8/2011
A grant award of $5,000 from REI to the Outside Las Vegas Foundation (OLVF) will translate into a boost for a program designed to encourage young people to get outdoors for improved health. OLVF is using the grant money to provide direct support to the rapidly growing “Let’s Get Healthy!” Nature Prescription Program.

BLM Withdraws Public Lands within Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge 12/13/2010
To protect and restore habitat for 12 Federally-listed wildlife and plant species known to occur only at the Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) issued a Public Land Order 7755 to withdraw nearly 9,460 acres of public land and 5,570 acres of reserved Federal minerals within the Refuge in southern Nevada for 20 years from U.S. land entry and mining laws, subject to valid existing rights.

Rock Art Damaged at Red Rock, Reward Offered 11/29/2010
Three prehistoric rock art panels were vandalized with graffiti recently at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Both pictographs (paintings and drawings on rocks), and petroglyphs (drawings scraped and ground onto the surface of the rock) were severely damaged.
