The Mt. Charleston Wilderness Area was created by the U.S. congress in 1989 and is jointly managed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.
The Mt. Charleston Wilderness extends across the entire Spring Mountains Range, including the highest point, Charleston Peak, at an elevation of 11,918 feet (3633 m). The area is also home to around 18,000 acres of Bristlecone pine trees. There are 40 miles of trails located with the wilderness area.
