The Black Canyon Wilderness borders the west side of the Colorado River from where it leaves Hoover Dam and ends at a narrow corridor that separates the Black Canyon Wilderness from the Eldorado Wilderness. The wilderness is a maze of peaks and canyons primarily volcanic in nature. Water is scarce but hiking the canyons you may come across desert bighorn sheep, jackrabbits, coyotes, desert tortoise, lizards and rattlesnakes.
